MitiS - Open Window EP

Time’s just been blowing by in all this nice weather and I haven’t had the time to keep up here. But with the release of the new EP from MitiS I’ve found something that I just want to let you all know about.
This EP that MitiS just released is called “Open Window”. Its four tracks long and pretty sick. Take a listen while you read on.

So if you don’t remember, I’ve brought MitiS up before for his Alive remix. If you listen to much of his other work you’ll quickly realize that MitiS likes using the piano; probably because of his classical pianist past, and I’m down with that. He also does a great job of keeping his tracks dynamic, (you never feel like a bar is stuck on loop with his stuff). But enough of that,  I’m gonna give you a bit of a run through of what I think of this EP. (Spoiler Alert)

The EP starts out with “Open Window” featuring Anna Yvette. It’s a slower song but packs a full sound throughout. It’s got some wispy female vocals in there that are pretty nice. If you’re hoping for a massive dirty drop, this isn’t the song for you, but if a nice full melody with some exciting builds is what you’re looking for, then you just might like this.

The second track in this EP is called “The Opening” it moves from the first song into something a little more aggressive but maintains that high level of melody and it rests on the foundation of a solid beat. But the ending of the song, some might say it’s a bit of a cruel tease.

As for the third song of the EP, it’s “Shock Top” (yeah, the same name as that citrus beer that’s out there, but don’t let your feelings of the beer get in the way of this song) Although I’m not going to recommend Shock Top beer, I will recommend this song, because its coming in as my favourite for this EP. And to keep with the trend, again I’d say this song is more aggressive than the last but still melodic. For this track I’ve gotta say my favourite part is when it drops in. The build has nothing too special about it but when it drops in it’s just got that sick jump feel to it, and frankly I wish there was a bit more of that in there because it’s so good.

As for the final track it’s called Pain. It’s a good closing track, but there’s a reason this EP isn’t called ‘Pain’.  I’d say it’s not as melodic, nor as aggressive, and it’s a bit cluttered. But when you listen to this EP as a whole, it does a good job tying it up.

TLDR : Shock Top, Yeah, Sick jump feel. Open Window, nice builds and melody. The Opening, pretty dece beat. Pain, extends the EP to four tracks.
