Alright i'm gonna make this short and sweat because i hate writing, and we will leave it that that. I only started to listen to EDM music when i moved to lister. Before that i liked pretty much everything (except country), and I still do. but enough about that.
Last night i spent a few good hours exploring House music of all different types. I found it hard to find a song i didn't like. The songs with good vocals and and somewhat chill beat were defiantly my favourite thought. Zedd and Swedish house mafia are probably my favourite, and have a lot of good house music
I made a playlist of a few of my favourite from last night and this morning. Im sure you all have heard most of them but here they are.

So Young So High
So errybody knows Dada Life is sick and champagne and bananas are the tits. And since it's spring now and the weather is all over the place, teasing us with the opportunity to drive around with the windows down and light up the barbecue, I thought I'd throw around a track that gives off that awesome no worries springtime vibe.
Dada Life - So Young So High, (both the Original and the Dillon Francis Remix)
The track is originally by Dada Life and is pretty awesome, so give it a listen first. But then you gotta check out the Dillon Francis Remix, cause it complements and builds off the original pretty well, so make sure you listen to it after.
Pretty great song right? It builds up real nice, keeps that carefree feel throughout, and drops into a decent beat, and who doesn't like being young and high?
Once you finish listening to the original you gotta checkout this remix. It starts off a little faster and Dillon does a great job of keeping that carefree feel but changing the genre up at the same time. And don't forget about the drop in this track, it's something else. It just drops into that massive chill beat. Definitely worth turning up right there cause that's what the start of summer sounds like.
Tiesto and Andybody also made pretty big remixes of this, but took it in a different direction; more in the midnight rave direction than giving off the carefree summer style. Look them up if you want.

Freefrom Hardcore
So we are exploring the less known regions under EDM, and I thouhgt what the hell? I am a trance guy and have never been keen on exploring, but since everyone is doing it, I am gonna give it a shot.
This genre is called Freeform Hardcore, or its technical name "Happy Hardcore UK Hardcore". I looked it up on youtube and was met with failure to find singles or collabs. However there are a ton of mixes that are hours long.
After listening to a few different mixes for the past hour, I have concluded that it sounds like someone took old school techno and trance, bashed them together, added funky electro notches and good vocals and finally turning it up to 190 bpm. But damn, I like this shit.
It is fast. It is versatile. Sounds like drum and bass but its not, it gots its own twerk to it. This is the kinda shit that will get you dancing at shows, actually I prefer this than the hardstyle they put on. There are not many drops, but you keep going cuz the beat never stops.

DRUM AND BASS, IN YO FACE!
So, you like your dubstep and your house. Trance is pretty sick too. But sometimes... man, just sometimes... you wanna go fast. Like, real fast.
That's where the drum and bass comes in, amigo!
My name's Megan, some you may know me as "Megan", "Leduc", or "Brett's girlfriend". Lets be friends! I used to live on 7 Henday, and I'm sure you and I have ran into each other at some point. Anyway, I asked Jedd if I could write a post or two because I'm a fan of EDM and I'm really digging the stuff that's been coming out of this blog. I've got a pretty broad taste in music, but my journey into the depths of electronic music began pretty recently. Through some incredible music festivals last summer, I was introduced to some crunchy beats that blew my brain out my ears, and I'm always looking for more!
But I digress, lets get back to the bass-ics here. Hahahaa.
You may have noticed that we have a massive dubstep and house following in North America. Thus, that's a lot of what we hear at EDM shows and outdoor festivals: slow, heavy, hard, and lotsa drops. Drum and bass (or DnB, and if it's really fast, Jungle) is a little different - if you've heard something heavy and fast, like... really fast, it just might've been from DnB family. The genre has a bigger following in the UK, but some awesome artists definitely do show up to play the EDM festival circuit in the summer, which is how I was introduced to this beautiful, fast, fun, and sometimes kinda creepy genre!
Here's a playlist of some of the stuff I like. Some of it's new, some of it's old, but in general it's all pretty good and will turn you into a raging junglist in no time! Now, before we get our panties in a twist about music classification (which admittedly is a bit tricky with electronic - theres a lot of wild and crazy out there!) note that not all of the playlist is straight-up DnB, I also threw in some stuff belonging to - sister genres? is that the term? Anyway, the stuff that sounds like Jamaican dudes on speed is Raggajungle, and the Prototypes tune is the product of dubstep and dnb making sexy music babies ("Drumstep").
So here's to getting in touch with your inner speed freak, I hope you enjoy!
