It was difficult deciding what I wanted the do for the first post for this blog; there are so many songs that I want to eventually cover. In the end, I thought I would cheat a little bit and start off with an artist profile on one of the sickest producers I've heard. Ever. Period. Seriously, you want to check this shit out.
neƩ Jeff Montalvo, the producer behind Seven Lions, has exploded onto the electronic scene. He combines elements from many different genres to create something that is profoundly unique: sometimes trance-ish, heavy dubstep drops, and some of the best vocal tracks I've heard in electronic music.
The track that started this addiction to was "Days to Come". The song starts off super chill with amazing vocal by Fiora, real atmospheric vibe the is central for all of Seven Lion's tracks. Then, the drop. Holy fucking shit do I love this drop. Its not heaviest drop in the world, but it gives a feeling of pure clarity and ecstasy.
From there, I discovered his remix of "Cosmic Love" by Florence and the Machine.
Literally everything this guy touches is gold. His remixes of Above & Beyond's "You've Got to Go" and "On my Way to Heaven" are absolutely stunning. These are great songs to begin with and its really hard to imagine that they could be improved upon, but Montalvo seems to find a way to do it.
So yeah...its really hard so say much more without just being reduced to illegible nonsense (something along the lines of "AAAAAAH! AAAAAAH! ERMAGERDDDD"). Seriously just check this guy out. In fact, just go out and download everything he's made, you won't regret it. I'm like a crack whore for his music. We're gonna have an entirely new class of bums out on the streets offering blowjobs in exchange for the newest Seven Lions track.
